What exactly does Greenerway do, and who is it for?

Greenerway is a Norwegian energy technology company that designs, installs, and manages integrated energy systems for commercial facilities, industrial operations, logistics companies, and real estate investors. We specialize in three areas: Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Energy Management Systems (EMS), and high-power EV and heavy vehicle (HDV) charging infrastructure.

How does a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) actually save my business money?

A BESS saves money in several connected ways. It reduces peak demand charges through automated peak shaving. The system charges during low-price periods and discharges during expensive peak hours, so you draw less power from the grid at the worst times.

Our Energy Management System (EMS) integrates with live energy market prices and automatically buys cheap energy, stores it, and uses or sells it at a higher value, a process called arbitrage. Third, for sites with solar (PV) production, the battery stores excess solar energy instead of losing it, maximizing every kilowatt your panels generate. Most Greenerway customers see a clear return on investment within five years.

Can Greenerway help us generate income from our battery system, not just save on costs?

Yes, and this is one of the things that sets Greenerway apart. Our BESS installations are designed not just to reduce costs but to actively generate grid income through participation in frequency regulation and balancing markets. These include FCR (Frequency Containment Reserve), FFR (Fast Frequency Reserve), and mFRR (Manual Frequency Restoration Reserve) markets operated by the TSO, as well as flexibility markets such as Elvia Euroflex.

We have limited grid capacity at our site. Can we still install high-power EV or HDV charging?

This is one of the most common challenges we solve. Grid upgrades are expensive, slow, and often not feasible, but high-power charging does not have to wait for them. Greenerway's battery-backed charging architecture places a BESS between the grid connection and the chargers, allowing the system to deliver far more charging power than the grid connection alone would allow.

What is the Greenerway Control EMS, and how is it different from other energy management platforms?

Greenerway Control is our proprietary Energy Management System, the intelligent software layer that manages every energy flow across your site in real time. It continuously monitors electricity consumption, battery state of charge, solar production, and live market prices, then automatically controls how energy is stored, used, and traded.

Does Greenerway work with solar (PV) systems, or only battery and EV charging?

Greenerway works with all three, and the real value comes from integrating them together. Solar production, battery storage, and EV or HDV charging are far more effective when managed as a single system rather than three separate installations.

Our EMS monitors and controls PV production alongside the battery and chargers, ensuring that solar energy is used optimally at all times, stored in the battery when consumption is low, used to charge vehicles directly, or fed to the grid when prices are favourable.

What does full EPC delivery mean, and why does it matter?

EPC stands for Engineering, Procurement, and Construction, and it means Greenerway manages your entire energy project from initial design through to a fully commissioned, operational system. We handle feasibility studies, system design, electrical engineering (including high-voltage and low-voltage works), equipment procurement, physical installation, commissioning, and handover.

This matters because energy infrastructure projects typically involve multiple contractors, suppliers, and consultants, each accountable for their own piece, but nobody accountable for the whole. With Greenerway as your EPC partner, there is one contract, one project team, and one party responsible for making the system work. It removes coordination risk, simplifies procurement, and gives you a clear line of accountability when anything needs attention.

What types of businesses and industries has Greenerway already worked with?

Greenerway has delivered projects across a wide range of sectors, which reflects how broadly the need for smarter energy infrastructure has grown. Our completed installations include a heavy transport and HDV charging company (Frode Bjønnes Transport), a construction equipment rental business (Sorby Utleie), a plastics manufacturer running solar and battery together for near 100% green production (Ny Plast), and a construction company investing in the electrification of site operations.

How large are the BESS installations Greenerway typically delivers, and can you scale to our needs?

Our installations range from smaller commercial systems of a few hundred kilowatt-hours up to multi-megawatt-hour scale for large logistics facilities and real estate developments. We have delivered systems including a 1 MW / 1.1 MWh installation for an industrial manufacturer, a 500 kW / 1 MWh-plus system for a rental and charging operation, and are currently progressing a project involving a total of 8 MW / 16 MWh across two logistics warehouses.

System size is determined by your energy consumption profile, grid connection, revenue targets, and available space, not by any limitation on our side. We design for your specific requirements.

How long does a typical Greenerway BESS or EV charging installation take from start to finish?

Project timelines vary depending on the scale and complexity of the installation, but as a general guide, a standard commercial BESS or EV charging project moves through four phases: initial assessment and system design, procurement and equipment lead times, physical installation and electrical works, and commissioning and testing.

For a mid-sized BESS with EV charging integration, customers can typically expect a timeline of two to four months from signed agreement to a live, operational system. Larger projects involving multiple megawatts, new transformer infrastructure, or grid qualification processes for balancing markets will naturally take longer. Greenerway manages the full process in-house, which removes the delays that typically come from coordinating multiple contractors. We give realistic timelines upfront and keep you informed at every stage.
